VA To KW Calculator

To calculate volt-amps to kilowatts , use the following formula:

The Real Power in Wattsis equal to the Apparent Power in Volt-amps multiplied by the Power factor (pf)

VA to KW Formula

For Example 01

If an Induction motor takes 125VA power at 0.99 (lag) power factor from the AC source. Calculate the KW rating of the motor.

Answer

Where,
power P = 125VA , Pf = 0.99

We Know
S (KW) = PVA x Pf / 1000
S (KW) = 125 x 0.99 /1000
S (KW) = 0.12375
Kw = 0.12375

For Example 02

If an Induction motor takes 1500VA power at 0.95 (lag) power factor from the AC source. Calculate the KW rating of the motor.

Answer

Where,
power P = 1500VA , Pf = 0.95

We Know
S (KW) = PVA x Pf /1000
S (KW) = 1500 x 0.95
S (KW) = 1.425
KW = 1.425

Frequently Asked Questions:
What do you convert VA to KW for ?

When you calculate equipment loads, fuses and wire sizes, you convert VA to KW and device capacity is written in VA, so VA are converted to KW.

What is DC Circuit 1000 VA in KW ?

A watt changes depending on whether the electrical circuit is AC or DC. In a DC circuit, 1000VA is the equivalent of 1 KW.

What is AC Circuit 500 volt-amps (VA) in Kilowatts (KW) ?

A watt changes depending on whether the electrical circuit is AC or DC. In a DC circuit, 500 VA is the equivalent of 0.475KW. This equivalence means that the power factor of that power supply is 0.95.

What is the formula for volt-amps to kilo watts ?

Real Power(KW) = Apparent Power(VA) x Power factor in PF / 1000.

If 1500 VA is 0.9 , how much is KW?
