Amps To KVA Calculator

To calculate Amps to Volt-Amps Single phase, use the following formula:

The apparent power S in volt-amps (KVA) is equal to the voltage V in volt (V) times the current I in amps (A), divided by 1000.

Amps to KVA Single phase Formula

To calculate Amps to Volt-Amps Three phase line to line voltage, use the following formula:

The apparent power S in volt-amps (KVA) is equal to √3 times the line to line voltage V in volt (V) times the current I in amps (A), divided by 1000.

Amps to KVA 3 phase L-L Formula

To calculate Amps to Volt-Amps Three phase line to neutral voltage, use the following formula:

The apparent power S in volt-amps (KVA) is equal to 3 times the line to neutral voltage V in volt (V) times the current I in amps (A), divided by 1000.

Amps to KVA 3 phase L-N Formula

For Example 01

If an Induction motor takes single phase 230V, 1.2A power at 0.99 (lag) power factor from the AC source and runing time 6 hours. Calculate the kilovolt-amps (KVA) of the motor.

Answer

Where,
V = 230V , I = 1.2A , Pf = 0.99,T = 6 hours

We Know
S (KVA) = V(V) x I(A) ÷1000
S (KVA) = 230 x 1.2÷1000
S (KVA) = 0.276
KVA = 0.276

For Example 02

If an Induction motor takes Three phase Lime to Line voltage 400V, 2.2A power at 0.99 (lag) power factor from the AC source and runing time 6 hours. Calculate the kilovolt-amps (KVA) of the motor.

Answer

Where,
V = 400V , I = 2.2A , Pf = 0.99,T = 6 hours

We Know
S (KVA) = √3 x V(V) x I(A)÷1000
S (KVA) = √3 x 400 x 2.2÷1000
S (KVA) = 1.524
KVA = 1.524

For Example 03

If an Induction motor takes Three phase Lime to neutral voltage 380V, 5A power at 0.99 (lag) power factor from the AC source and runing time 6 hours. Calculate the kilovolt-amps (KVA) of the motor.

Answer

Where,
V =380V , I = 5A ,Pf = 0.99,T = 6 hours

We Know
S (KVA) = 3 x V(V) x I(A)÷ 1000
S (KVA) = 3 x 380 x 5÷1000
S (KVA) = 5.7
KVA = 5.7
